Bluebonnets in Silk Ribbon Embroidery
The Bluebonnet is a member of the Lupin family the Texas Bluebonnet is a friendly slightly messy blossom. In the Victorian Language of Flowers Lupin means Imagination. It is the State Flower of Texas and has been my company logo since I began the company.
I have been working on a design for Texas Bluebonnets for a while. I completed a commission for a natural (off white) silk pillow with a windowpane grid of the same green cord used in the pin puff tassel. I then repeated the single Bluebonnet stem in two rows of three stems centered in the windowpane grid and finished the pillow with an off white fringe with a double whipped back stitch of the same green cord on the top of the fringe. Because of the size I could not scan the pillow and showing one section when stuffed made the Bluebonnet look misshapen.

Stitch Guide
In the stitching I used white 4mm ribbon in padded straight stitches for the "white" top. The top most flower bud is padded with a second shorter straight stitch. the rest of the white buds are French or Montano knots at the lower end as padding with a straight stitch over the top.
The blue flowers are formed from randomly placed Lazy Daisy stitches of blue variegated silk ribbon in 4mm and 7mm. Some of these stitches are Decorated Lazy Daisy Stitches with white 4mm ribbon used in a Staight Stitch in the center.
The stems are 2 strands of dark green floss with the leaves in 7mm edge dyed dark green silk ribbon in a straight stitch.
